Looking inside the shelter

Looking out of the shelter at the nearby aspen trees,

The world seems to move faster and faster, go-go-go! I can keep up for a little bit, but then it all starts to unravel. I lose track of the details first, and then I lose the big picture. I forget things I need to remember and dwell on things I don’t need to. I need a rest. During a recent walk in the woods, I found the perfect place to rest. There was just enough room for two people and a small campfire. It was open-air and yet intimate.

Walking into this tiny shelter, I was overwhelmed by the moist, earthy smell. The fertility was heady and fragrant. It felt cozy and private, even though the “walls” weren’t solid at all. I wondered who built it, although the purpose was probably clear. It made me realize that my love of tree houses isn’t just for those in the air; it extends to tree houses on the ground, too. There is nothing like feeling cradled in the arms of Mother Earth. I wanted to linger, rest, and rejuvenate my life.

    1. It looks like someone made it by gathering branches and pushing them together, side-by-side, with the sides making a steeple at the top. Someone’s little cozy resting place. I’m glad they shared.
