As St. Francis’ feast day, it is traditional to bless the animals in honor of his teachings.
May all creatures be freed from their suffering
May all creatures be freed from their illness.
May those in fear be comforted
And those bound be set free.
May all creatures lost in this wilderness
they do not know
be guarded by the love of celestials
and may they be led to a place
of everlasting peace.
Buddhist Prayer, adapted by Lynn L. Caruso

And because I feel like Love is a blessing unto itself, I also want to share these words.
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.

Well, and to two-leggeds, too (I’m thinking birds). I miss Jazz daily and still expect to see him on the other side of the door, around the corner, etc. you all deserve blessings daily, it just once a year, but a special day is still special.

What beautiful words! A couple of our birds are sick right now, so this is of great comfort to me. I like to think every creature is cared about and loved.

Absolutely. Every creature counts and had a place in the Divine Plan.

Thank you for this beautiful post 🙂 And, from my perspective, the ‘love of the celestials’ is indeed guiding and guarding all beings on the Earth through a (r)evolution of vibration into peace, love and freedom. Love&Blessings to you and All ❤

We take our dogs to our Episcopal church to be blessed, and they even wear a St. Francis medal on their collars from it. May we be as much of a blessing to our animals as they are to us.

It is one of my favorite days of the year. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it until a few years ago. I might have if I’d been Catholic…. Everyone can bless the animals, though, and I feel sure those blessings are honored by the Divine.
